A Time for Every Matter

Good morning from Corvallis!

A Time for every matter...

Thank you to all of you who have been praying for our family in the past couple weeks.  Both Caroline’s mother (101) and my mother (94) have recently been placed on comfort care as they have faced late-life health challenges.   That means we have been doing a lot of driving back and forth on I-5 between Corvallis and Portland to care for both of them.  We will be doing that for some time to come, as the Lord shows us what his plan is for these two beloved ladies.  This has also resulted in Caroline and me having to spend a lot of time apart, which neither of us enjoys.  Yet, as the Bible tells us, “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1)  For Caroline and me, this is our time to show honor, love and care for the women who brought us into the world and nurtured us through the joys and sorrows of life.

Coming Soon:

It is also time for a joyful experience in our family: our youngest daughter Emily is ready to bring our newest grandson into the world.  Her due date was June 14th.   But he has yet to make an appearance. Looks like the young fella is already a late sleeper!

A Time for change:

As most of you know, the Lord has brought along someone to take my role as InFaith: Northwest Oregon Area Missionary.  Pastor Mat Neahring will transition into the post over the next several months.  After Mat finishes leading a youth mission trip to Chicago this month, he and I will begin working together in July as he learns the ropes and builds a base of financial supporters and prayer partners.  Lord willing, I will continue full-time with InFaith through the end of December, and will remain chairman of the Sunday School Fellowship until the SSF annual meeting in March.  I am excited to see how the Lord will use Mat’s gifts to enhance the ministries of the InFaith fellowship churches in our area.

Some donors have begun asking if, when and how they should transfer their financial support to Mat.  To be clear: I will be suggesting that all of my supporters eventually switch to providing for Mat’s ministry.  Mat and I hope to have a better explanation how and when to do that when we communicate with you next month.  In the meantime, I do appreciate your continued generosity as I continue to serve in this mission to which I was called nine years ago.

Coming up this week:

InFaith Sandy Fellowship Breakfast, Wednesday, June 17, 9 AM at Tollgate Inn in Sandy.  Join in with church leaders from the eastern portion of our ministry area, as we break bread together and share what the Lord is doing in our communities.  I might be a few minutes late to this month’s gathering.  I hope to leave Corvallis early enough to join you at 9…but feel free to get started without me!

May our gracious Redeemer continue to bless you, and keep you cool during this stretch of wonderful weather!
