Fresh Prayer Needed for Relief from the Flames

Dear InFaith: Northwest Oregon Family,
It saddens me to share the news that Dodge Community Church has burned as wildfire swept through the forest last night and this morning.

This photo, taken by Dodge resident Tami Brotnov Wednesday morning, was shared with me by former Dodge pastor Frank Campbell.  It is too early to  tell how much damage the rest of the community sustained, but we do know that some homes were spared.  The church south of Estacada off Hillockburn Road has been affiliated with InFaith since 1947, when area missionary Lester Spencer helped start an American Sunday School Union Sunday school there.  I have not yet been able to personally speak with any church members since the fire, as the entire community was evacuated as the flames drew near.  Many have been blessed through the ministry of this country congregation, and we pray that the Lord will show us how to help the community draw together and continue to bring Him glory, even in the face of tragedy.  I pray that, as the dust settles and the ashes cool, the InFaith: Northwest Oregon family and Sunday School Fellowship will come together behind our grieving brothers and sisters and help as they rebuild in their part of God’s Kingdom. Please also continue in prayer for Garfield Community Church, Mountain Home Community Church, George Community Church, and Dover Community Church whose communities have also been evacuated as the fires spread.

May the Lord have mercy on Oregon and bring an end to this inferno soon.
