Compassion and Unity in Jesus

Dear Friends of InFaith: Northwest Oregon,

In an increasingly fractured world, the Church established by Jesus remains a refuge for the weary among us, a family that is called to unity and compassion for one another.  In the apostle Paul’s letter to the Romans, he calls on us all to demonstrate those qualities as we “Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.”  (Romans 12:15)  This week we weep with some of our own who have suffered a tragic loss, and we celebrate with others who are rejoicing in the Lord’s work in their communities.  I ask you to read prayerfully and consider how the Lord would use you in this ministry in the days ahead.

  • Please pray for Dan and Nancy Wentworth, former leaders of Mountain Home Community Church.  Their 18-year-old granddaughter Lily died February 13 in a tragic ATV accident.  A celebration of Lily’s life will be held February 23rd at 2 PM at Northwest Christian Church in Newberg.

  • Caroline and I are off today (Feb 18) to visit with church leaders in the far northwest reaches of our field.  First, we are meeting with Shiloh Basin Community Church Pastor Matt Bagwell and his wife Terah, then we have an afternoon fellowship time with other church leaders from the area, starting at 3 at Farmhouse Coffee in Clatskanie.  Several people from Hudson Park Bible Church are just wrapping up an exciting evangelistic mission to Peru.   I don’t know if they are back yet, but I still pray for their safety as they travel.

  • Wednesday (Feb 19), church leaders from the eastern part of our field will meet for our monthly Sandy Fellowship Breakfast at the Tollgate Inn in Sandy.  The no-host meal begins at 9 AM and lasts as long as the conversation continues.

  • Thursday (Feb 20), it is time for the InFaith Portland Pastors’ Prayer meeting at Woodland Park Chapel.  We had planned to meet last week, but the Lord had different timing in mind, sending plenty of snow and ice.  Prayer begins at 10 AM, and everyone is invited.

  • The Sunday School Fellowship Annual Meeting is coming up Saturday, March 22 at 10 AM at the Carver Church, 16388 SE Highway 224, Damascus.  I hope your InFaith-affiliated church has already appointed its two voting delegates to the meeting.  We will be voting on new board members, reflecting on the work the Lord has done in our fellowship in the last year and seeking His guidance for the future.

May the compassion of Jesus guide you service to Him,

Tom Hiscox, NW Oregon Area Missionary  www.nworinfaith.org
